Thanks, but why are they now asking for 10 mile stamina?

I don't know JC. But it could be that they are just trying to up the ability level because they want a range of abilities for the reasons I was describing. However, I would have said, "able to run up a 1 in 5 grassy hill in the dark at pace, x 50 times" rather than 10 miles. But I guess people know if they can do 10 miles, they don't necessarily know they can do hill repeats!! :-)G

Hm, I've raised the question with SoL HQ. Problem is I've persuaded folk to take part on the original basis. Even "able to run up a 1 in 5 grassy hill in the dark at pace, x 50 times" seems different to being fit enough to run 3-5km :-) We'll what comes forward .... Thanks for your thoughts.

I'm sure it will be OK. It's an amazing spectacle. Hopefully, they'll take account of the individuals' ability and group them appropriately. :-)G

I agree with JC. Lots of people could do the "run 3-5k" bit but couldnt do the " 50 times up a hill" . That sounds quite hard, in fact.

HappyG - you're not making me feel any better .... Is there no easy "spin" to put on this?

Well, what I'm saying is, it's up to the organisers. One of the bits of feedback that I gave when we did the try-outs in August last year was that you don't have to just have hill running elite athletes, you can have slower runners or even walkers. But you need to group them pretty rigorously by ability. For the best choreography and effect, everyone has to move at same speed. But that can be as slow or as quick as they want. Sign up, go along, enjoy it! :-)G
