DT - I find it most useful for just finding old runs. The calendar format makes it an absolute doddle. Want to look at your splits from say London in 2010? You can find that run in 5 seconds. 2 clicks. Absolute doddle.

There's also a raft of stuff you can get by choosing different things to look at. I tend to have my Training Log in calendar format. But if you click the 'Entries' button (at the bottom of the calendar thing) then you'll notice you get quite a few drop down options at the end. The predictions one is quite useful, but I personally find the Heart one to be - and in particular the 'beats per mile' field. I know I'm getting into good nick when that's down under 1000.

You get wava info on every run too (if you're interested in that?) And maybe check out some of the 'Games' you can join too - UTMOST for example. A sort of league based on race times (also a wava league). It would take you a fair while to get up to where you should be (there are I think 30 leagues, with relegation and promotion each week). But as a newbie you'd start at the bottom. So you'd basically get promoted every week for about 6 months and then it would stabilise!

The route planning tool is pretty good too.

Just have a play around. You don't get the 'kudos' thing that you do from the orange site, but as a personal training diary I genuinely feel Fetch knocks the spots off that one.

Thanks, LS21, does seem a lot going on here.

For that league you mention, if based on race times, how do you progress if you don't race for say 8 weeks, which have just come off a heavy race programme is where I am at now.

I can't see how I edit a previous post....

I do love the HR type stats so that beats per mile type thing will be interesting and useful to be able to quickly find an old race. Out of interest, when I am running a race i tend to find someone that appears in previous results, search them up and then scroll back a year to that race. I'd always said it is a shame I can't just generally search for 'Birmingham 10k' for example and find runners that have uploaded that race from last year or before. I that perhaps possible here?

Pug's times for what standard lists were depressing.

You'd scroll down to what you'd run, say 36mins for 10k and he'd rate it something like
"Casual level runner who runs twice a week", or suchlike.

But that got me 3rd at the Duck and Dorris Shepham 10k I'd think!

DT - I don't think you can edit a post on the forum. You can edit your run entries though.

Re UTMOST - it's done on a 12 month rolling scale. So say you ran 2'45 at London in April 2024. That's your Marathon time until a full year afterwards (unless you beat it of course). If you click on UTMOST and have a look at the leagues, you might notice the odd time in silver with a cobweb thing behind it. That means that time is about to expire quite soon.

And yes re searching for races. But you'll only find runners who've added it to their 'Race Portfolio'. Search for say 'Abbey Dash' in the search bar.

The first matches are from the forum. Keep tabbing down until you see the race section. You then just click on say the 2023 race and you can see the Fetchies who raced there (as long as it's in their portfolio), what time they ran, what their PB is, what their wava score was etc. Although I'm not sure you can view their actual run, mile splits etc unless you're a 'buddy' with them on here? Not sure? On the race listing (just above the map) you can click on the 'All Time Leaders' as well. So for example someone ran 29'56 in 2017 - but if you click on that it just goes to their user profile page, not the race entry. So perhaps not what you're after?

I doubt I'll ever trouble sub 3 again (ran 3.12 at London off a compromised build up) but it's quite nice to see you all here and an old woman can dream. :-)

Wardi - i was only quoting sub 220 and 230. Too many after that.

DT - that soreness must be due to the combo of pace and downhill. Will toughen your legs up.

Hilly - I'm not much of one for YouTube etc but i wanted to see some footage of this year's Brighton mara so looked on there.......which led to the algorithm keep sending me spam for other marathons.......one of which was a video of you and Barnsley boy running Manchester (or MK?) I think.....I skimmed through it, at one point Barnsley was hiding in the bushes from you as he didn't want you to find out he had stopped......

DT, no edit function on posts. If you get into blogging, you can edit those, and you can edit training entries. Also, Fetch doesn’t save drafts on posts, so if you have a particularly long post you don’t want to lose by mistake, sometimes better to draft it elsewhere.

Not sure if you ever uploaded pics over on RW? On here, you have to upload to your gallery first, and then add the pic to your post.

I think I remember Marigold made use of beats per mile.

About This Thread

Maintained by TR
Hi

Fetch has said us RW refugees can relocate here. I know there are existing sub3 and 3.15 threads, but the fetch threads seem to be for more infrequent posters. The RW threads are more of a daily diary.

We'll see how it goes.

I'm a M57 hanging on to sub3. I'm unattached harriers so like a place to talk a bit of running and find some inspiration and accountability.
