OO61.. around here Parkruns are dropping like flies. Selby, Wetherby, New Earswick, Fountains, Temple Newsam are all off. York is in doubt - if it does happen they will have to divert onto the racecourse infield at times to avoid ice on the main track.

Just home from work. It's been a beautifully sunny day but the frost is still on the pavements and the ice hasn't melted on the windows at the back of my house. It's not forecast to get above freezing until 1400hrs tomorrow and the fog is due to roll in around 2000hrs and stay until 1100hrs. Can't see much running getting done.

Could be a treadie day LMH?
Are those parkruns cancelled due to not wanting running on ice, or not wanting folks travelling to them? Seems sensible either way I guess.

Or maybe just a gym or even a rest day. Not feeling 100% and can't really see the point of what would probably be 6 miles max on the treadie that I wouldn't enjoy. If I manage to say no to extra shifts next week and the weather improves as forecast I should be able to get some reasonable miles in.

TR.. Parkruns are on private land so don't get gritted, safety of the runners is paramount. The problem up here was caused by heavy snow then rain last weekend, the moisture hasn't completely cleared away so has remained icy.
I dislike frozen grass/mud more than tarmac so I'll give York a miss.
OO61.. hope you find a venue that's going ahead.
Just over 9m on the treadie. I've managed to catch a cold bug from somewhere, the treadie runs do seem to help calm the symptoms.

LMH - I'd go for gym, plus a bit of bike and treadie whilst you are there.
OO61 - hope you don't have to travel too far then. Impressive dedication even if i don't get the parkrun thing.
Wardi - are all parkruns supposed to be on private land ? I'd be surprised at that with some of the ones ve heard of down here. There are prom based parkruns down here. The one that is about a mile away from me will probably get cancelled as its on a gravel path round a lake and it can get icy there.

Riggys - how’s the FIL? Hope you managed to get a decent run in.
OO - thanks, that was a memorable day in Parliament hill. 12k of XC is tough going and it was ankle deep mud in parts. Haha, you love your parkruns. Glad you’re able to run without too much grief with the knee.
Wardi - good that you have a plan B when the weather doesn’t play ball. Hope it’s not a bad dose that you’ve picked up. A lot of it about.
TR - could you drive to work when the weather is so bad or do you want to get the X training in?
LMH - I hope it warms up soon so you can get some decent runs in.
The weather is looking very settled here from Sunday for a week. Sunny, no rain and around 10c. Looking forward to running in better weather. I got absolutely drenched on Wednesday night. I honestly can’t recall a time when I was more wet after a run. Localised flooding in parts. Been a mixed week with illness causing a few zero days but feeling good since yesterday and managed to get in a half decent session. A bit random but I did 4 miles progressively faster with a 6:3x at the tail end for 7:10 avg. 2 min rest. Then another 4 miles steady with a 6:5x last mile for 7:26 avg. Some little hills in there too to keep it interesting. Nothing special but it was good to turn the legs over a bit quicker after feeling poorly again. I really struggle to run fast in the dark. The pavements on some of my routes are just awful and because it’s a tiny island they are quite narrow too. I’m quite scared of falling or twisting my ankle, or even worse being run over by speeding cars. There are some better lit up and pedestrian areas but I get bored doing the same flat run where every one else trains. I’ll have to keep a lid on it until the lighter evenings arrive as most of my running is done after work. Pacing a friend tomorrow at parkrun and then a longish run on Sunday. I might salvage mid 40’s this week. I’ll take that, considering how the week started.
