wardi, yes I saw that v65 WR. Amazing stuff. There's a few of these former olympians that seem to have retained the desire/ability to keep it going long-term and become a very good masters athlete. I guess most walk away when they arent elite and don't have the desire to keep doing something that has ruled their lives since teenage years.
Nice double yesterday.
Ouchouch, hadn't realised that until you said. She is doing Tokyo then Boston. Apparently the plan for Tokyo is to run with the sub 3 pacer. I note from her PO10 she is looking essentially to complete the Majors in Boston.
Nice work on the tempo.
Gerard, she really enjoyed her time there. I went to St Helier once for a stag weekend, arrived Saturday morning left sunday so saw nothing beyond the taxi ride from the airport and the centre of St Helier.
Yes I am in a law firm, we have so many firewalls and so much training around phishing etc, we are definitely prime targets!
Good to hear that your potential ill health has plateaued.
LMH, looks set to warm slightly after the weekend by the looks, though it's getting colder before that happens. Just have to ride it out.
Started the day at the chiros so a bit of pulling about. Out at lunchtime for yesterdays missed session. Founds a stretch of road that only had a couple of mildly treacherous sections. Went reasonably well. A mall session of a descending/ascending pyramid of 1k, 800m, 2 mins, 1 mins then back up off 2 min jog. The difference in temperature mind from my front door to the country lanes, which is less than a mile is significant. I was initially feeling like I had over dressed then got into the lanes and it was raw.

Gerard - glad you didn't feel any worse this morning and hope you're soon feeling better. My windscreen wash was frozen this morning and it has anti freeze in it! We are forecast a feels like temp of -7C at 0800hrs tomorrow. Can't decide if I'm being lazy or sensible if I don't run. Frost hasn't cleared all day and it was slippery underfoot so I wouldn't have risked it even if I wasn't working.
This is why I don't like training for spring marathons DT19. I also fell over walking round a flooded stretch of road whilst out on a run three or four years ago and broke my right head and neck of humerus so am very wary of that happening again. It was only a fall from standing on a grassy, muddy, soft riverbank but the physio said it was the type of fracture often seen in car crashes. Fortunately a DEXA scan showed that I don't have osteoporosis but it means we don't know why the damage was so bad.

Gerard - you need to get healthy before you can get fit. I feel your pain with the lurgies though.
LMH - top work commitment.
DT - I know that feeling with how cold it gets out inn the commuting country lanes, easily get another 5 degrees lower at times.

Didn't run Monday to give my glute/hammy a bit longer, but t was real tight in 5m home last night, and I had to walk in today instead, is stopped trying to run after 1m. Feels like a nerve thing (reminded me of Yeovil Mara 2018 with LMH and crab, I was walking after a few miles thst day). I've played the "wonder how far I'll be able to get away with today" game too often in recent years, and I hate it now, so I'm stopping for a few days. Will review at the weekend.

Wise decision if it's still problematic TR. This cold weather doesn't help - it seems to find every old niggle when out for a run.
Gerard.. best wishes for a hasty recovery.
DT19.. good session done and nice work finding a reasonably safe lane to do it.
LMH.. I did venture out for a walk this morning to assess running conditions. Temps below zero all day so all footpaths covered in ice patches, not a chance of a run outdoors. Bad luck with the antifreeze!
9m on the treadie instead, looking like similar conditions until Sunday so I guess nothing is going to melt until then.

Sorry to hear that TR. You could do with a proper diagnosis and treatment plan.
Similar here Wardi - temperatures not getting above freezing all day and another heavy frost overnight. Monday is the first day we're currently forecast warmer temperatures.
Once it's light I shall venture out and assess conditions but at this stage and with having no one to pay the bills or look after me if I incapacitate myself I will be erring on the side of caution.

Oh no TR. So this is a repeat of the previous issue you had? Probably very sensible to halt but difficult for sure. With your high mileage a few non running days shouldn't hurt too much but fingers crossed. Gerard, seen some of your recent runs. A great start to the year, but as said, staying healthy is the key to long term progress. 9 miles on the treddie sounds very tough wardi, I can't last more than 20 mins these days. LMH, stay safe, but hope you get a decent run out. Energy costs are a bit scary at the moment. Hope you can find a balance between work and fitness. DT I see you are going well, inspite of floods and freezing weather where you live. I spent a couple of days in Manchester. Between DIY jobs on my daughter's house, I managed a 9 mile soggy plod on Tuesday. Arrived in Keswick yesterday to freezing minus three conditions. So sneaked out with my trail shoes and headtorch for 6 miles, on flat but icey tarmac paths. A progression run with minute surges on/off. I felt pretty good despite ongoing knee issues. I've also lost the few pounds gained over Christmas.

Feels like -6C here this morning OO61! Good to hear that your knee isn't totally stopping play. My current plan is to work less when the weather is more conducive to running.

It's good at least to have flexibility with your work LMH. Yes totally frozen in Keswick too but snow only on the hills.

That might change soon OO61. I'm tempted by the security of sick pay and a regular income but that's not entirely in my hands. If we ever get fully staffed opportunities for the extra shifts would be limited too but that's not very likely given the state of nursing and the NHS. Went to see one of our patients in the ED yesterday and the wait time was 12 hours 45 minutes. I've never known it so bad. Worst of the winter pressures is still to come too.
There is ice on the outside of my windows (could be worse - I remember it being on the inside when I was a kid!) and I'm cold in the house. Hopefully I'll warm up if I can get myself out and moving!
