I tried 4 min:30 sec yesterday. Focusing on building up mileage, not worried about pace, at least not in these sessions. The 4 minutes seemed to last forever and the 30 seconds went so quickly. I might need a longer walk section if I build up the pace of these 'runs', but was fine yesterday. Gentle jog, keeping heart rate down has helped me so far this year. When I build up my distance sufficiently was hoping to run whole distance in longer races if possible, (can slowly run round a 10k race now, but is very tough), so only use for training. All new to me, so I don't know what I'm talking about.

I see your park run times this last year are pretty nifty and better than previous years GeneH. You're clearly on the right track and sure know what you're talking about! Well done on the 4m: 30 seconds. Yeah, run bits are sometimes never ending, for me currently 20-30 SECOND runs are all I can muster and they seem never ending!! I'm on a constant HR watch/ observation and being monitored post COVID by a consultant.
Still, did 3.3 miles this morning giving it some welly (!!which creased me!!) and managed to do my best 5k for nineteen months. Won't try that again for a month!

Trail run this morning with friends. I did my Garmin 10K training plan session, I’d forgotten how much harder trail running is compared to road running!
2.5 miles ‘easy’ at 30:30
1 mile ‘steady’ at 60:30
0.5 miles hard - planned to run this continuously, but had to stop to cross a road.
Then a relaxed 30:30 mile to finish.

Feeling like I've turned a corner this last week, with both a medium-long and a long run following a 4:30/0:30 run/walk strategy. I've also managed two shorter speed sessions without walking, and the hamstring issue seems to have cleared up entirely, fingers crossed!

Of course, the aches and pains seem to have shifted elsewhere, so I'm now having to keep an eye on what my right foot and calf are doing. Having just completed three high-mileage weeks, I'm going to treat this next one as a scaled-back week to try to iron out these latest niggles.

Will therefore continue with walk/run on a fair few of my planned easy/long sessions over the next few weeks, to moderate the pace and aid recovery.

Used the walk run several times as prep for proper 10k. Worked a treat.

Well done Fetch!! Hope the "proper" 10k is successful if you use jeffing .
5 .1 miles this morning and I'm up to 25 seconds on my run bits but that's hard for me still!

After a break to try and heal my swollen foot I was back jeffing a marathon slowly yesterday! I was using distance and counting steps, so every half km I would walk 50 steps for the first half. On the second half I tried to go with another woman who was doing 4/1, but I was too fast and found 4 minutes was too much so reverted back to 30/30 where I can run longer if I feel like it! I thought I’d had enough when I made the last steep climb through the woods but managed to find a second wind for the final 6km! Next marathon in 2 weeks time!

That's super news jelly. I was thinking that you were battling through pain and injury.
