Thanks all.
Yeah, some run extensions this morning thanks to being with my wife (torey here on Fetch who is also "coming back" after issues). Managed a whole minute during the 3.2 miles but that really took it out of me. Nearly half way through the meds trial before I see consultant again so now I expect (!!) the improvement to begin!! ( Too bad if nothing changes!)

Hoping the recent quiet spell on this thread is just because people are busy (or busy enjoying the sunshine!) rather than nursing any injuries/illness. Last week was week 5 of my half marathon training and three out of my four runs were run/walk, though I've been tending to end my longer runs with a 10-15 minute run section.

This week, I've run twice so far without any walking element, though for my next medium long run on Thursday I plan to run/walk again so I can regulate the pace a bit more, given I need to hold a bit back for a 10k race on Sunday. It's a bit of an up and down multi-terrain route, so I'm not sure what I'll achieve, particularly if the weather is hot!

I did 5 miles on Sunday morning as part of my Garmin 10K training plan :
2.5 miles easy pace running continuously with walk breaks when needed (target pace 12mm - 12.30mm)
1.5 miles steady (used 30:30 ratio, target pace 11.30mm)
1 mile harder (used 30:30 ratio, target pace 11mm-11.15mm)

It was really hot and I found it hard, had to take a few extra breaks to lower my heart rate.

Well done @lin50 for sticking to the plan despite the heat!

I've been reading good things online about the Garmin training plans, and some of my speed sessions have been lifted from the Greg McMillan HM training plan. I've also been using the daily workout suggestion as a guide these last few days, but tomorrow am planning a rest day even if it suggests another 53 minute base run (which it did yesterday and today)!

Your routine and training looks like being very effective FChicken. Most training plans for "serious" efforts include rest days, noting that daily runs can be counter productive.
It's all about how much effort is put in of course. Many people choose to run and enjoy things without pushing very hard and then daily running is ok. Hard running/walking dictates rest days.
Good effort there lin50 and a serious work out, wise to note your HR too.
5k this morning, usual measly run bits on the walk run outing. Nice temperature early morning, 16c and quite perfect.

I'm struggling with 3mile Parkrun. I've got it into my head that when I get to 2 mile I can walk. So I do.
I've been following 80/20 plan. Up to run 30min zone 2. Then it comes to Parkrun and all zones go out the window and I'm in zone 3/4 and wonder why it's hard.

@Pam runs it’s strange you said that, because the same thing happens to me….I run 2 miles at parkrun and then start jeffing.

@lin50 yeah that's me. As soon as you walk then you just walk for no reason.

You're right about that, and I suspect the main reason I've been able to run the last few days was because I run/walked the long run on Sunday - I can imagine I wouldn't have been able to get out yesterday otherwise, based on how I've felt in the past!
