morning
easy short swim today after 4.5m to work at 6m home last night
need to give serious thought to intervals .... and cooler weather was very hot coming home last night!!
Garmin keeps reducing my estimated 5K time .... not sure if its a "you should be able to do this now" time or a "with work you could do this" time either way it seems a joke!

It's supposed to be what you can do now, and I agree it exaggerates, but OTOH I find it consistent so it's an indication on whether I'm getting slower or faster.

yes it is getting seconds quicker which is nice but I can't see me holding that pace for 500metre let alone 5k!!

EP - my Garmin thinks I can do 5k 3 minutes quicker than my pb from 2013, like much of what it tells me I laugh at it and ignore.

Enjoying playing with different run-walk ratios, but also slowly getting back my ability to run without the walk breaks. I need to keep mixing it up otherwise my legs make the walk decisions for me.

Long slow runs with 3:30/1:30 are working really well, but I do 4/1 for easy runs and 2/30s for recovery
Setting 30s/30s gives beeps for fartleks - walk, jog, run,RUN is fun as is just chaging the number of beeps I put the effort in for.

Not sure where I’d be without run/walk, probably injured or given up? but still working on running solidly as well.

Impressive doing intervals at 5.30 am LipGloss, it's a fine time of day which I enjoy too but I'd collapse if I tried those!
Another four miles at 30/30 early today but struggled after a non run day yesterday. At some point...soon...I must up the ratio, and I really ought to see how far I CAN run without stopping. It's all very frustrating given my running history.

To be nosy, Pix, what time can you run 5K in currently, and what does your Garmin suggest you can?

(My simple Garmin does not make any suggestions to me - well apart from MOVE!)

My Garmin doesn’t tell me stories either - or I don’t look hard enough 😂😂

36 does seem currently a bit optimistic but I reckon you could run 44; 42 after a couple of weeks of focus. You'd have to push yourself in a different way from what you've been used to.

Might be an interesting exercise as a r/w time trial: say 80/40s, or 90/45, really pushing in the run sections (maybe try 3K first).

PS don't injure yourself obvs ;-)
