Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I have many cotton bags, although I've only ever bought one of them. They are nearly all very old, and still going strong. Two of them were drawn by my children in early primary school as part of a litter-reducing drive and are therefore at least 13 years old.

Back on the soap thing, I got a Lush shampoo bar for Christmas*, the Avacado co-washing one. Smells amazing!
Anyway, only used it twice so far so too early to say whether I like it or not yet...

*I did get other presents too, not just a shampoo bar :)

Also, I have a drawer full of sturdy reusable bags, some of which are several years old. They're used for my shopping every week.

Must admit am a bit of "bah Christmas"....too much junk received..... told everyone to donate to a charity if they wanted to give me something, but my bro thought it would be good to give me a reusable bag, reusable straws and a reusable cup! I gifted them back to him to use :)

Bless him, at least he was on the right tracks, run free :)

We did very well for no-tat this year. Apart from one scented candle, everything we received was consumable.

Grrr. I need to vent. Here seems the best place.

The bathroom light fitting in my rented out flat in London has corroded, apparently. It's only about five years old, having been installed by Ogee of this parish when he refitted my bathroom before we moved to Bedford.

I've now been told that new light fittings for bathrooms can only be of the variety that means the bulb cannot be replaced, and instead the entire unit must be replaced when the light bulb blows. This makes me very very angry. How disgracefully wasteful. I queried this with the managing agents who have advised: "the electricians have previously informed me that this is the new way a lot of the lights are being made, using health and safety precautions to make the manufacturers more money."

I can't even describe my rage at this!!

Zone 1 - inside a shower cubicle might be WL, but fairly sure zones 2 and 3 are still OK to change just the bulb.
It's not long since I bought a new fitting and that has changeable bulbs.
