Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Carp, I did remember to ask about pasta the other day, but I haven’t got all the info yet. Apparently, it comes from Italy in big plastic sacks which then get sent back for reuse. This might rule it out if your shop is run by a perfectionist, but it sounds like an improvement to me. The woman I spoke to on Friday said she’d ask the boss what the company was, but she wasn’t around when I went in today and as they only have one till and I felt I’d held up the queue long enough I didn’t want to ask. Next time it’s quiet I’ll try again! Good suggestions about the long stuff - thanks. :-)

People who use shampoo bars, do you use conditioner too? I bought both but I have had to go back to washing hair every other day, rather than every 3. I wonder whether the natural bars don’t strip natural oils as much and therefore I don’t need conditioner to compensate.

Thanks @rosehip - still think green house gases is a complex subject:

- fast fashion, flying medical stuff to save one life, imported foods/clothes stuff, using fridges and freezers, whether soya bean is more polluting or beef is the biggest polluter, burning fossil fuels, bicycles (scandal in China where millions of bicycles have been dumped....sadly same in Singapore when a company went bust), whether cotton bags are more polluting and creates more green house gases than plastic bags.....

THEN there is the far right Brazilian president who wants to chop down the Amazon. He says for agriculture, but there are oil companies interested in expoiting the area.

So prefer to focus on general waste reduction / elimination.

BTW a researcher in Hawaii has discovered that photo-degrading plastic (like in the ocean, landfills or even as pellets) generates methane & ethlyene which is like a fast hot fryer compared to CO2 which is a slow long term fryer.

Shampoo bars; I don't use the conditioner ones much, although I bought both. I've just got a 2-in-1 bar from Lush which I'll try.

I do put jojoba oil on my hair sometimes, before washing it. It seems to help.

Greenhouse gases is very complex - and the photodegrading plastic issue adds to that complexity.

Absolutely. Hence if you knew producing plastic goods produced less green house gases, would this change your mind to reducing plastic usage?
