Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Would have been funny to have met a Texan on the Mall today who (somehow) didn't know what was happening and say to him "yeah, we do this procession every Monday".

I think I saw / heard somewhere that it was one of the coffin bearers last duty and last day of service.

I haven’t watched any of today’s coverage, a friend died too young on Friday so I couldn’t face it.

I’ve been in Italy the past week and was able to catch some of yesterdays events on an Italian TV channel. An amazing day.

People I have met from other countries during all of last week have all said such nice nice things. She was so clearly held in high regard internationally.

Have a hug Mrs J. Me and daughter were reflecting earlier on how hard today would be on anyone in such circumstances

right at the start of the funeral I had to bring in some washing from the garden. There was absolute silence. No aeroplanes or cars. No lawnmowers and anyone DIYing. Not a soul, just birds singing.

It was like 1st lockdown all over again. It was lovely.

Exactly the same here, GordonG. Had to take a dog out right at the start of proceedings, as she was leaving Westminster Hall, and it was absolutely silent out there. We had no traffic come past our house at all for most of the day. Just a few cars while she was being driven to Windsor. No farm traffic until after the whole thing was finished, and then it was just one tractor with a bailer which was probably on its way to something that couldn't wait.

It is usually quite quiet here (when it isnt windy) but there was nothing. Just the birds.
