Sat here in Spain where I am racing and made sure I followed the gun carriage the funeral thanks to the BBC

As always the military served her majesty with perfect distinction to the end.

I hope his family are allowed to briefly forget that he is now their king and give him a hug.

Indeed. I hope that there is an aspect of family life that not even the most intimate portrait, film, tv or in print reveals to us - and I suspect that, for all the 'horribilis' that is bound to attach to a family living under microscopic scrutiny at all times, there is a deep well of love, caring, understanding and compassion upon which any and all members can draw at any time.

Not really sure what to say, a very emotional day, but what a day to be proud of.

Those young coffin bearers were immaculate, i hope they get to enjoy a couple of drinks tonight.

Awesome, epic day.

I must admit I did get through a few tissues. I don't know how they all managed it so well.

I hope they were taken straight off for pie and chips and a pint!

Emma the pony (with headscarf draped over her saddle) gave me damp eyes. And Charles looking utterly bereft during the final God Save The King. And Kirsty Young just about holding it together rounding it all off on the Beeb.

I was very meh about the Westminster Abbey bit and nearly binned it there.

But Jesus that parade was unspeakably magnificent. The hypnotic rhythm of the walking set to funeral beat, Big Ben bonging, the colour and splendour, the sombrenesses etched on every face. Unforgettable.

So glad I watched that!

As EX-RN, I would have given my right arm to have been in the gun carriage crew today. As for the 8 lads who carried the coffin, what an incredible job they did with the eyes of the world on them 👏👏👏👏

I also am ex-RN and am of the same opinion, what an honour. I was so proud I nearly burst.

I was a bit fixated on the orb so much of the day then saw that it is fixed with a spike so I needn't have worried. The moment when it was removed, along with the sceptre and crown, was particularly poignant.

What a magnificent day, the very best display of pomp and circumstance. The members of the armed forces all did a wonderful job under intense scrutiny. The coffin bearers looked so young and performed their duties faultlessly. They must be so proud.

The Royal family deserve some time out of the glare of the media now to grieve privately. They have been stoic, proud and visible since the Queen died, performing their public duties wonderfully despite the desperate grief they clearly feel - you could see it on their faces today.

It has been a memorable period of public mourning.

^^^^That.
And TRO, the Orb (and the mace and Crown) all have special fixings on the coffin lid so they stay firmly fixed. I read that somewhere.

I think the Queen would have thoroughly approved of everything today. It was immaculately done but not at all sterile, as such a big occasion might have been.
