The Mussile
Terrible stage for the overall GC race but an awesomely entertaining stage. Happy to have planned to work from home today

No argument that the hay bale was genuine bad luck, just like a badly timed mechanical on a climb, dropping a chain in a sprint, hitting a spectator etc etc. I don't want a hay bale to decide the Tour. But the whole day wasn't about one hay bale, it was about positioning, risk taking, riding hard, taking (or losing) the initiative, using your team, riding without a team, etc etc. Pogacar isn't even in yellow after all that! There have been some losers today who wouldn't normally lose out on a flat day. That's a good thing! |

Pog only got 13 seconds in the end over most of the GC

Pog may yet regret that effort.

I'm hoping Pog might suffer but he never looks like he is trying

Roglic was in the front when the hay bale happened. He'd done everything correctly. I didn't say I wanted smooth roads all the time i just don't want incidents deciding things and that doesn't matter whether it's cobbles, flats or mountains. I didn't say cobbles shouldn't happen, I'm just disappointed in what happened. There's no way people losing time to Pogacar is actually good for the race, the opposite might have been true. |

That said 13 secs isn't much so not a terrible outcome with only Roglic basically out.
