Pidcock isn't currently on the start list, but Ineos have so far only announced 3 riders. Though I think they'll be putting Ganna as number one. I'm going to guess Pollitt as an outside bet. Or maybe ever present breakaway star Taco! |

Pidcock doesn't have the power for PR IMO (currently anyway).

I expect Tom may have more chance in a wet PR, but agree he's not ideally built for it in the dry. Pog was saying he'd need to bulk up to target it, and he's already a fair bit bigger.

Pidders and Pog are surely too lightly built to win it (although... never say never). If you had to pick one or two riders showing good form at the moment who have that puncheur strength, it's got to be Ganna and Van der Poel

Pogacar was decent on the Tour stage. Not the same, but possibly the building blocks for it.

Pog is a similar height to Gilbert, and currently only a few kg lighter, so that's probably the nearest comparison. I think he'd really need to target it though. An interesting hypothetical question could be who would find it trickier to adapt if they wanted to get all the monuments - Pog to PR, or WVA or MVDP to Lombardia (though may also depend on particular Lombardia route)? |

WVA has shown good climbing ability at the Tour so seems like he could train for it. MVDP not so sure.

Interesting blog by Inrng on win percentages of the big five: Pogacar, MVDP, WVA, Evenepoel, and Roglic. inrng.com |

Here's a nice first person account of Flanders from Nielson Powless who didn't have much of an idea where he was in the race (distance wise): rouleur.cc |

Jasper Philipsen almost got boxed there, just about got out for the win.
