Said Milan San Remo is the hardest classic to win!
Agree as strength doesn't always prevail there (although it did this year).

SPR: I believe Thomas is the only Brit to have won a classic (E3) and a GT.
I'm struggling to think of another who may come close in the near future (I'm not sure TP is currently inclined toward GC) - maybe Backstedt dependent on her direction.

I think the other thing that helped Pogacar this year is WVA weakness. I think if he drops them both together, then WVA and MVDP would have wanted it enough to work together to close the gap as they both believe in their sprint. Would be interesting to see a year where all three are at their best and how the different strengths affect the racing.

Chaos on the Koppenburg for the women. Lippert slipped and a lot behind had to walk. Now SD Worx Vs the world!

I think he's actually the only person that's done this if I heard correctly during E3?

Re: Tour , I said favourite, not necessarily winner. As we know there are years where the fave goes home in the first week. And who would have thought last year Pog could be cracked in the mountains like that?
Giro also looks great Evenepoel vs Roglic, and little between them on hills (according to Evenepoel).

And that's why I said they're different races. He's the favourite currently because of what he's done Vs Vingegaard in PN this year, not this race. This race just shows his all round talent. Vingegaard wouldn't be anywhere here (I think, you never know till he tries) but that's not the type of rider he is.

Watching the women's race now. I had it on a second screen but struggled to keep up with it kicking off in the men's race. Saw the walking that MM mentioned. Hopefully we're about to see the decisive moves.

The first Tour I watched avidly ('89) the favourite going in to the race was Delgado, who lost track of time signing autographs before the start of the prologue, missed his start, and had (from memory) something like 90 seconds handicap to make up over the rest of the race.
That's often forgotten when people talk about that close finish between LeMond and Fignon, given that Delgado finished third and closer than the inital time gap. If he's not done that it might have been a really boring race.
Favourites don't always win and often that's a good thing for the spectacle.
