Pretty much. Van Anrooij looking strong, but she's not going to drag Vollering et al to the finish.

So onto Paris Roubaix - and well another WVA/MVDP duel looms, but I just have a sneaking feeling that it's gonna be a different name. Absolutely nothing to base it on, other than WVA looked a little off key and MVDP put in a huge ride in Flanders and he likes to kill people on the hills with his insane power and Paris Roubaix doesn't have them. Plus the cobbles are such a wildcard. Any other names people gonna throw into the hat? |

The names that the official race website have highlighted, apart from the big 2 favourites, are : Mads Pedersen, Filippo Ganna, Kasper Asgreen, Nils Politt, Matej Mohorič, Alexander Kristoff, Stefan Küng, Sep Vanmarcke, Gianni Moscon… and Arnaud De Lie paris-roubaix.fr They give even more contenders at the bottom of the article, listing all 25 teams and 1,2 or 3 possibles from each team. |

Yeah some of those I really don't see (Moscon for instance - and yes he was way ahead of everybody the year Colbrelli won it), and some to stand out yeah Pedersen is a really obvious one, he was only broken on the Kwaremont on Sunday. Ganna is in good form too. Sep Vanmarcke is another of those nearly men you think one day, one day but perhaps not today. Asgreen, Politt, Mohoric don't seem to be operating at the height of their powers. Kung is such a nearly man, supremely talented, deserves a win.... but but. And also Fred Wright not on that list, but an impressive 8th on Sunday is gonna bag one I think one day, but again not quite yet. |

There's a massive gulf between MVDP and WVA (even off form) and everyone else. Ganna is a good shout though to be a contender as he has the power for the cobbles. Huge power kills people on the cobbles btw, especially PR cobbles. Obviously need to see how well MVDP can ride on there but don't see why he won't. Other than Ganna I think everyone else will have to go ahead and hope they don't get caught. Unfortunately for them, Jumbo should be up to the task of keeping any break in check even if Alpecin might not be. |
