It felt odd to me that GCN cancelled their ‘Breakaway’ Vuelta show today, as a mark of respect.

Quests highlights package last night was only 30 minutes of coverage without being topped and tailed by Orla etc. A rapid decision given the timing of yesterday's announcement.

I think Orla and the team were wearing black yesterday, but I’m pretty sure they weren’t at the start.

What are the thoughts on Roglic blaming Wright for the Vuelta crash? I know the footage wasn’t brilliant, but it seemed to me that Roglic wasn’t fully aware that Wright was there and Roglic thought he was joining the back of the line, but Wright was there. But Roglic is saying it was Wright’s riding behaviour that caused the crash.

Wright doesn’t feel he’s done anything wrong.

I'm a Roglic fan and I see it as a racing incident. Roglic did come back into the line besides and ahead of Wright but they were so close and Wright was going faster (Roglic was coming off the front) and had nowhere to go really and it's all happening super fast. I'm guessing Roglic is just super frustrated. I was going to say that after that crash is the first time I've not seen him be fairly stoic in the moment.

I call it a racing incident as no one really did anything especially wrong as we know that groups will stay tightly together in sprints even though there's masses of road. Roglic probably got too close, Wright may have jinked left slightly but I don't think they were big errors. Maybe an elite sprinter stays upright as they are used to contact (although we've seen them go down in similar situations).

I’m a huge Roglic fan as well and I think he helped really light up a couple of stages in TdF and Vuelta this year. But I think his analysis seems a bit off with this. You’re right that everything was happening at such a fast pace, and probably Roglic (and the others) weren’t seeing straight at that point due to the massive efforts involved immediately prior.

That stage where Roglic and Vingegaard were attacking Pogacar in TdF was just fantastic.

This slow mo shows Roglic ahead as he comes back in line.

But at impact Wright had surged ahead for a split second I think: twitter.com

I think he slowed and Roglic was back to being faster but then there was overlap hence the crash. All happens so fast at race speed that there's no way they could have reacted once the conditions had been created but Roglic would have had to leave a bit more room. Wright being bigger and stronger in the upper Vs Roglic probably meant he took the brunt.
