PE, I have had similar problems. There are no stupid questions. There is a subtlety to the technique that makes you wonder what on earth is going on. How can something so simple be so difficult? I think it's because a lifetime of using our bodies in one way cannot be done away with in such a short time as we would like. I think it's a long haul and very small improvements are made over a long time by most. Some, like Mr Bee and DaveA for example seem to be gifted and thus are able to pick it up very quickly indeed.

What I do now is:

Make sure my knees are bent while stood. Not excessively so but enough to make the belt in my trousers level.

Don't think about making your foot land because it will land wrong.

Just bounce with the knees bent lightly on the spot. Feel your body weight on the balls of your feet.

Bouncing like this is you pulling properly and very minimally with both feet at once.

Now try the Pony drill or just jogging on the spot with knees bent and lifting your feet but only lifting enough to get them off the ground. Make your feet quick. I had to make a conscious effort to make my feet quick to start with.

Now just while jogging on spot move forward by leaning very gently. In this manner you should be able to go for a short run and the pace will surprise you.

As you run faster then your range of motion will increase. Let it, don't chop your range of motion. If you are pulling quickly and on time while keeping knees and ankles soft (like in the jogging on spot and bouncing) then you will be landing properly.

The main thing is that the pull is only very light. Don't try to pull like you do in the drills. The drills greatly exaggerate to give you the sensations that you need...

eL Bee!
AA - indeed! But the answer to Baronessbl's question is that her physique is not a limiting factor in terms of learning to run Pose! :)

Ian

One drill I would like to see you do is the COs - COS but then hold the new pose for a few seconds then COS again - repeat a few times then add lean to change it to a moving COS

The delay of the pull will come often from either not pulling on time (obviously) or not falling properly, or a bit of both.
