Without unweighting properly you won't be able to whip your support off the ground without the swing foot coming down first, regardless of you thinking you are or not. Unweighting works in running naturally, in drills it can be a pain in the arse for some.

Aha, I'm beginning to think that this problem may be linked to me naturally standing with locked knees too...

I will try again tonight. How might I best do this unweighting while stood still in Pose? Do I introduce a little hop to temporarily take weight off? I can't really see how else this can be acheived?

I have to say, that will be one of your big problems. Untill you learn to just let the knees go, at the minimum you're using quads, but you also delay the fall considerably etc. When you learn to just relax it all so you literaly just 'collapse' forward while standing, you'll get the idea for running.
CT done a great post on the POSE forums for those that couldn't get it because of his knowledge of ski instructing, need to use similar unweighting mechanism to that in the drills.

There is no need to hold the knees at any angle, they will hit the right angle themselves as long as your posture is nice.

Bump starting a Vauxhall Astra is an excellent way of perfecting 'the fall' part of the Pose technique - marvellous

This is something I always thought I was doing but with hindsight I reckon I do it in drills then just bugger off with my knees locked straight...

Ian,

I see clear now, thinking to much has not been your problem:) It is thinking about the wrong things that has been the problem. I hope you have a lurvely *unrun* today.
