Odd thing is as a society a lot of people recognise we really don't pay enough tax to fund the services we expect but what no one can agree on is upon whom the extra burden should fall. Everyone thinks it should be anyone but themselves. putting up council tax will presumably mean those is more expensive properties will pay more than those in lower bands. That in it's self is a tiny bit re distributive as far as I can see. I'm good with that, but I eagerly await the howls of protest from those with more to lose from crime being asked to fund the police a bit more. |

Council tax is massively regressive tax though, just because the highest pay a little bit more, we broadly pay fairly similar amounts, but this means as a proportion the lowest incomes pay more. (Something like 8% of their income, compared 2% for many at the top). equalitytrust.org.uk The precept was raised by a conservative chair in this Parish after a previous chair reduced the precept two years running, because the PC was just amassing a large credit without a clear plan on how to spend it (and they still don't have one). |

I'm going to write here as nowhere else will understand. My MP is Reform, Rupert Lowe to be exact. Lives nowhere near Gt Yarmouth. He was instrumental in bringing a big boat filled with ammonia (the same stuff that blew up Beruit in 2020) to the port. The ship was damaged and several countries (I think the Netherlands and Belgium) refused to allow it to dock. When it docked Rupert celebrated it for the town. How he was putting Yarmouth on the map. How it would bring money to the town. Several people (myself included) mentioned the risk of it going Booooommmm but apparently it was perfectly safe and I/we were woke/ lefties bringing the town down/ overreacting. (I wasn't too bothered but it would make a big hole on North beach). Anyway... the ship was towed out to sea to dump its cargo. Many of us again went eh??? What!! To be told perfectly safe. Today.... Rupert is screaming about a conspiracy around how the Tories hid an evacuation plan for the town, how he wasn't to be told about it... etc etc. All mention of his part of bringing the ship in has vanished. This is text book point and shout but he's being hailed a hero. How have we got to this. I'm absolutely disparing. People are cheering him for uncovering the conspiracy. If you'd like to see more just search his page on FB. They see him as some Robin hood character. Sorry. Long post but needed to despair somewhere. |

It is, they're horrendous. On the day that the government made a deal to end the scandal of Thatchers theft of the British coal pension fund Lee Anderson the former moner was hystericaly posting about boats and not saying thanks. Twunts |

Today's job is to email my MP complaining about ridiculous water bill raises. Why are the government more willing to take ownership of trains but happy to let people wallow in shit? |

Thank you, just how do we fight this. I think Reform will be so dangerous, I can see them getting many more seats.
