You can argue social media being controlled by Musk, Zuck and co, make it a difficult environment to do that in.

I find those statements about Harris profoundly depressing. As I do the commentary that I keep hearing that 'wokeism has gone too far'. 'Wokeism' (shit word misused) is basically levelling up for anyone who isn't white, middle class and male. And tolerance. And kindness. I understand that some of those voters feel 'left behind' but how can we persuade them that it's not a zero sum game and that 'others' are not to blame. And make it so that they feel heard and know what their place is in the world without stepping on others.

I blame climate scientists for carbon emissions going up. They should have spoken out more/less/better/differently!

I wonder what will happen when all those who voted for Trump because of high inflation under Biden find things get even worse under him?

A sad day I think looking back to 1989 - embracing capitalism hasn’t really helped those in East Germany who remain significantly worse off. theguardian.com Also worth noting that the DDR was far less patriarchal than West Germany, many more women engineers than doctors from the east. With nearly two decades of austerity, and forever wars ongoing, and climate change devastating Europe’s fringes, I don’t think many are better off compared to 1989 as neoliberalism and globalisation have hollowed out communities and destroyed the industries and economic models of the 20th century. Power and wealth regathered by a privileged few |

Fields, seriously, if there were a referendum now in the area of Germany which was formerly the DDR, with the question "Would you like to go back to how things were in the DDR before 1989", what percentage of people would say yes, in your view?

Wow @Fields , have you ever actually spoken to anyone who grew up in a country behind the Iron Curtain? My Romanian colleague will soon tell you how hard his life was. Any country that needs to build a wall to stop its citizens from leaving is doing something wrong.
