Sounds like the VP candidate (with the name of a country and western singer) thinks we are a risk to US national security as we are an Islamist nation with nukes. Perhaps we should investigate closer ties with Iran, or send over a preemptive strike? Or alternatively chuck the Americans out of their bases and get rid of all nuclear weapons and demilitarise |

How’s this to the left of Blair? Seems to be criminalising poor people and doesn’t do anything to address the root cause of poverty like the two child cap which Sir Kid Starver wants to maintain Just daily announcements from a grid trying to hit a different dog whistle each day bbc.co.uk |

Let’s see how long it takes Labour to abolish the two child benefit cap. Performative cruelty that does immense harm and saves a negligible amount of money.

It's going to need constant pressure internally and externally for their stance to change.

In terms of a purportedly left-wing govt getting stuff done it would have to be classified as the lowest of low-hanging fruit, you'd be hard pressed to find any expert who didn't think it was an absurdly damaging policy of no objective benefit that disproportionately hurts the poorest and most vulnerable in society.

No benefit, except maybe will give some relief to shop staff who get abuse and threatened on a near daily basis by people who currently know the police will do nothing. I manage a decent size supermarket and we now choose to just try and deter and take stuff back off people,as we have been threatened too many times. |
