There is a good chance they will split in two anyway. The Ukwitters are already agitating to not vote tory again - latest polls show an increase in support for the far right party (whatever its now called). |

"The Chancellor has announced electric vehicles will no longer be exempt from Vehicle Excise Duty from April 2025 to make the motoring tax system "fairer"." Saw this coming. It was going to happen eventually. |

Just back from holiday where we had to wait quite a while for the one immigration officer to stamp our passports (Spain). Lots of grumbling from old fuckers about "they're making us suffer for no reason". Tough shit. They won't waive the rules for you because you didn't understand the consequences of your actions. |

I don't expect the tories to change their policy in the short term, fozzy. It's still an open question as to how long labour takes to follow them after they eventually change their policy.

Labour will change policy faster than the Tories. You may be blinkered to it because of the current leadership style, JDA, but it will happen. I would expect the day after the next GE noises will start to be made and soft movement in that direction that will rapidly accelerate. |

Even if Labour does do a volte face, how quick do you think the EU would respond to the UK formally asking to rejoin? Is there any realistic chance of EU membership before 2030?
