I wish I hadn't read your last post Nellers. I was labouring under the comforting delusion that Boris wasn't going to make it to 100. Surely there couldn't be 100 people that still think he's suitable for any sort of position of responsibility? Guess I was wrong. Let's hope the bookies are right. |

BoJo has 50 publicly declared MPs. I don't believe the 100+ claim. Not to say he won't get there by Monday - we'll see - but it's a familiar pattern of lying from him and his team to say they are there already. Possibly lying so they don't look to be way behind Sunak in parliamentary support. Possibly lying just because that's what they do.

Ah, that's good to know, simbil. I thought he'd actually - officially - made it to 100. I think your last sentence is probably spot on.

Ah, fair enough. It’s a claim of 100, not a list of 100 confirmed supporters. He’s still going to get there though, I suspect. I’m staying with the in-laws this weekend and they don’t think Boris did anything wrong in the first place and it was a conspiracy to get him out by that bloody Sunak, the backstabber. This may be colouring my view of Johnson’s popularity across the country. |

Tory MPs have told the BBC's political Editor Chris Mason the claims Mr Johnson has reached the threshold to enter the first round of voting in the Conservative leadership race are "hogwash". bbc.co.uk |

Is there even a chance they just do a deal and return as PM and Chancellor again? Paul that is what Houchen has proposed already (and Gibbo would be well pleased with that outcome too I’m sure) |

I feel an overwhelming sense of powerlessness and frustration at this continuing unedifying spectacle. A party which has comprehensively trashed the country is once again involved in a display of infighting between a set of chronically incompetent, entitled and arrogant individuals who continue to put self before party before constituents before country. The country slowly declines as these clowns indulge in their flan-flinging antics and the decision will, once again, be left to 200,000 individuals who care little for the people of the country they profess to love. Self self self is the order of the day for these maroons, and there appears to be no level of corruption, cruelty and incompetence they won’t indulge as long as they remain isolated from the woes the party inflicts on everyone else. Johnson gets in and there will be more drama and incompetence to come. The only consolation is that the Tories will be completely destroyed at the next election - because there is no chance that this party will unite and improve over the next 2 years. Quite the reverse - things will only get worse for them short term, and we are doomed to remain chained to our seats as they drive the bus closer and close to the cliff edge. I predicted Johnson’s demise and I thought there was a good chance Truss wouldn’t last either. Johnson’s second spell, should it occur, will likely end the same way as the first - squalor, scandal, lies and division, culminating in an ignominious end. The whole lot of them stink and they deserve everything that’s coming to them. |
