The Tories' issue with Johnson staying on is that they'll have a paralysed government that won't actually be able to do anything significant for 3 months at a time of pretty significant challenge.
Everyone else's issue is that they just want him gone for good riddance. Oh, and we do actually want an effective government in place!

Given the front pages of the Heil and the Scum I do hope the clown isn't working with them to craft a "stab in the back" narrative...

Of course he is JB, that's the sort of cword he is.
As for a government not able to do anything, that includes not fucking anything up.
As long as there is a mechanism to continue to support Ukraine That's going to be as good as it gets

Yep, doing nothing could be a good thing. But that's a small government narrative. I like to think that government can and should have a role in solving problems and at the moment we've got problems.

Watched with incredulity the "vox pops" in Macclesfield on the news last night. I admire loyalty, but I can't fathom what's going on in the head of anyone in the general population that isn't a r-w activist that feels they are outraged by Johnson being forced out of office. Utterly baffling.

If anyone thinks that Raab is going to be anymore effective as a caretaker than Bojo, they are sadly mistaken. Yes it will be symbolic to match him out of No10 as soon as possible. But don’t expect any improvement from this shower.

If Johnson does the caretaking job correctly (big if!) then he should be no different to Raab. I think though that's the issue that lots of people have with it; they don't expect Johnson not to want to sprinkle his magic fairy dust on the caretaker government's agenda despite all of the "convention" that would normally be assumed by a PM in his position.
Equally though that's the issue with appointing someone as caretaker; whoever gets appointed may conclude they have some mandate of some sort, unless it is an old grandee (e.g. May, Clarke, Major) who can be trusted to respect the principle that they utterly lack a democratic mandate for anything.
Think the wedding story will cause some stirs, even if it is just a needling thing. Again, a principled PM in his position would be urgently making arrangements to shift away from Chequers, but I doubt that even occurs to Johnson.
