Or Northern Tory MPs are fully aware of the lies they were elected on and are playing the game and going through the motions for their electorates Report didn't mention first spending where govt had a chance to demonstrate levelling up ( money for mental health an obesity) - the headline was the North did well, but by region, NE England, probably the poorest region got the lowest funding - lots of nice Tory seats in Yorkshire probably did OK Is the issue on opposition = the opposition getting reported: on the racism issue the footballers are currently sympathetic characters and the right wing mainstream media willing to indulge their views, with the exact same hypocrisy as Patel |

Definitely, The Scum, The Torygraph, The Daily Fail and the Express are in the dock. They are part of the problem, not the solution.

I occasionally read stories from the Express as part of keeping in touch with the other side's views - their Brexit articles are comedy gold if you understand anything, upsetting that people could be reading and believing it though

Suffolk only has Tory MPs now. more often than notIpswich and Lowestoft are Labour seats. We have terrible road and rail infrastructure and the countries largest and busiest container port. |

Mr D- Thats quite the generalisation. Lowestoft is a swing town, and normally represents the government vote- so whoever wins there wins the GE. So they have been Conservative far more than Labour over the last 40 years. The shocking infrastructure in Suffok is a central government failure. |

[and I always thought those narrow winding roads were because the Romans never did anything for Suffolk 😉]

The Romans were paying Boudica back Macca. Isn't levelling up central govt, driven by local MPs central govt 1step2far? The Conservative County Council also blocked the North bypass as it would be bad for their voters. The right decision for the wrong reasons. Getting the containers moved by rail would be more efficient, but it's not going to happen. |

Sounds about right - central Govt policy seems to be to cut Council funding (but expect Councils to do more with less) then only give it back as headline making investment if the local voters vote for them in the local councils elections. local.gov.uk instituteforgovernment.org.uk |

Interesting looking at the infrastructure round Felixstowe. Lincolnshire also* has the largest container port in the UK. The motorway network falls short of Immingham by approximately 10 miles. It stops abruptly at the junction with the A15 to the Humber Bridge. It would appear to have basically been built in order to justify the construction of the Humber Bridge. Meanwhile, Scunthorpe has a motorway bypass running the opposite side of town to the steelworks! Those are the only miles of motorway in Lincolnshire. (* depending on which metrics you look at.) |
