Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

"We expect big things from our app and we've bunged someone 100 mill to develop it" has morphed into, "Yaaahhhhh well, it's a nice to have."

100 mill. That is an incredible amount to pay a company to develop an app. Normally am paid in stages when doing development work, even on govt projects. So if the company has not actually delivered a product that works, then they should not be paid the full amount. But geez 100 million for an app???!!! Obviously am not charging the govt enough when I work for them

I think the technical term for a £100million bung to some mates is a "Grayling".

You're right sorry I'm confusing it with the TTI contract which has so far yielded precious little. That was over £100m.

Hard to imagine what could be worth £6m for a simple app where there's already at least one open source version available.

deslauriers, I think any US-UK trade deal will be massively advantageous to the US. They won't really need to compromise on anything. All the compromises will be from the UK side (e.g. environmental and food standards regulations). So I have to ask myself why the Government would be pushing so hard for this, given that it can only ever give us a small fraction of what we will lose from the EU, and at such cost. Who are Johnson, Truss, Raab, Gove, etc., working for? It certainly isn't the British people.
