Gogsy!
@rf-fozzy - I'm with you on the 2 week jail sentence … far too heavy handed. I would have thought a £100 fine was enough of a 'slap on the wrist' along with the public humiliation to punish the guy. From the pictures it didn't even look as if he'd pee'd ON the statue & he was simply 'in the vicinity'. |

Two of the government’s most powerful civil servants have said they were not aware of any attempt to make economic preparations for a possible global pandemic in the years leading up to the coronavirus outbreak. Sir Tom Scholar and Alex Chisholm, the permanent secretaries in the Treasury and the Cabinet Office respectively, confirmed that although the government simulated an international flu outbreak in 2016, Whitehall did not devise a plan for dealing with the consequences for the economy. AND The new government commission on racial inequalities is being set up by a No 10 adviser who has cast doubt on the existence of institutional racism and condemned previous inquiries for fostering a “culture of grievance”, it has emerged. Munira Mirza, the head of the No 10 policy unit, is leading much of the work to form the commission on race and ethnic disparities announced by Boris Johnson on Sunday. Saying this lot are a shitshow doesn't even scratch the surface.. |

Or maybe the government should stop ordering commissions and start implementing what has already been recommended in previous commissions. theguardian.com |

Meanwhile in Cornwall - the fascists are out "protecting" the war memorial - the poor police are out having to defend the war memorial from drunk fascists. The BLM demo finished hours before, and if anything the biggest issue was that BLM protestors took umbrage to the idea that the fascists thought they might be out to damage a war memorial. Some of the laughably sad scenes on camera. twitter.com Christ the far right are so utterly thick it is unbelievable. If it was billions of years ago they would have taken a wrong turning for dry land and stayed in the swamp. We can only hope. |

Dave W- Munira Mirza was of course an ex-communist, also once part of the Spiked crowd that birthed Brendan O'Neill and several other intellectually challenged contrarians who make their money in the press challenging any idea that reasonable people might agree with and blaming it instead all on feminists/greens/lefties/Black Lives Matter while at the same time proclaiming that they are the true socialists remaining supporting Chicago school economics and unfettered capitalism. We are fucked.

Here's some more on Munira Mirza. Surely totally unsuited to the job. A far left, turned far right zealot. They're absolutely the best kind. twitter.com |

Typical of Johnson to use a 40 year D advertising slogan that most of the nation will never have heard of.
