I agree with you J2R. Perhaps it should be in more than one parties manifesto and it can be discussed and voted through properly in the next government period.

So Thursday 12th December is on. No idea how this will go - polls favour tories but nobody else has started to campaign yet.

All to play for - Tory Brexit with Johnson or referendum of Tory Brexit vs remain under a coalition/lab gov (presumably).

FR - just wanted to know why Leavers think that BJ’s deal is the one and not TM’s .... as well as for a bit of entertainment :p

Leavers think Johnson's deal is better because it frees most of the UK from the backstop, so we get to "leave" properly rather than being trapped until the backstop issue is resolved.

Underlying that is the belief that a UK out of the single market and customs union is a better result than being stuck in them but with no say in the rules. Economically speaking all the forecasts beg to differ with that however, but as we know, Brexiteers want "proper Brexit" at any cost so the forecasts don't really concern them.

In short, economically it isn't better but in terms of the alleged "will of the people" it is. Which is the more important depends on whether you voted Leave or Remain.

Tho the Tories were spinning the deal as especially good for NI because it kept them in the single market... Figure that out if you can!

No way should are limits be standardised for different things.

There are reasons why age of consent, dying for your country (as opposed to joining the military), leaving full time education, etc have different limits.

It's because society has deemed that these are the appropriate ages for these activities.

We shouldn't standardise the number just because it's easy.

The same way that hygiene standards for meat and mushrooms are completely different - even though both are food.
