Here's a question for someone.

Apparently, we can't take no-deal off the table, because the EU won't give us what we want if we do. It's the biggest bargaining weapon we have.

The EU have said, "Fine, here's a deal. Take it or fuck off."

ABDpJ has said he'd like a deal, gone to Europe, been laughed at and sent home.

He's now using the machinations of state to force no deal.

With me so far? Good.

Now, what I want to know is, if our only bargaining chip is to keep "No Deal" on the table, and that way we'll get a better deal from the EU than the one we've been offered, what happens when we no deal, crash out, and the offered deal is no longer valid?

Are we going to get a better deal than the WA when our one bargaining chip is gone AND we're negotiating from outside?

It had it's amusement.

However, of the many traitorous remoaners in Parliament, it's interesting that they've chosen the one that's been subjected to more "in person" abuse and threats than any other as the target of their humour.

Still, I don't imagine their supporters are the type to throw milkshakes.

YouGov snap poll finds public oppose suspending Parliament by almost 2-1, 47% to 27%

- A majority of Tory voters support it however 52-27
- A majority of 2016 Leave voters support it 51-25
- Over 65s it’s neck and neck, a majority of all other age demographics against

Oooh this is playing well with the public. Looking forward to the election.

So, if a VONC were successful in the next few days, it seems it's still possible that parliament would be suspended, preventing the clock from ticking on the new government formation? Is that correct?

Got to (?) admire the bravado and tactical nous. (I cheered for Jed Bartlett when he maintained the Shutdown on the West Wing, and he was a good guy using potentially unpalatable tactics!) Though I do wonder if they could still come a cropper somehow - I wonder if the small cabal that made this decision are really properly well enough informed to not have missed something which will trip them up.

Or are they running scared? The meeting yesterday seemed to have a credible way forward, and now that's been pulled from under the Opposition. So they must have feared being crippled by actual legislation or undone by a VONC.

I wonder what Europe's actual response will be, behind closed doors. There's no doubt now that Bojo has shown that he is happy with no deal, so if there is any mileage in the "they need us..." argument at all, it will become evident. (Not that there is any mileage, but that's presumably what Bojo is thinking).
