Calm down and keep on keeping on. Nothing much has changed, more than Johnson wants to have a press conference in front of the cameras saying "and I would have had my no deal Brexit, but those pesky MPs wouldn't let me get away with it": newstatesman.com |

Wriggling Snake
He's ruthless alright. He's also not a bumbling fool, he's got everyone else on the back foot already. Let's show people what money we can spend, lets do it, let's prorogue parliament and see what the remainers in parliament come up with (probably fuck all when led by the useless navel gazing, leaver Corbyn). If they block it (I think they should, obvs), Bojo can point at them and say 'look at them, they are the problem'...and lo, because Brexit has majority support in the press and the Cons, he'll be supported. ok, all this may well come back and bite him, but if he gets Brexit 'done', Farage is beaten, the Brexit party defunct, and the way is open for a GE win, lord know what he'll do then. I don't like saying this, but a majority of people will go along with it, until they look back and go, hang on, I didn't want that to happen, and at that point it is too late. |

Mauritania has now signed a trade deal. It's the West African Regional Economic Partnership Agreement with the European Union. So, even the country that famously trades on WTO rules now has a trade deal with the European Union. |

I could have stomached a sensible deal, approved by Parliament, enacting the will of 52% of the population. But the population voted to leave. They didn't vote for leave by 31st October no matter what. This is a coup, no other word for it. Sod the long game - this govt needs to end now. |

Yes, DeeGee, I think we would end up being the only country in the world trading on just basic WTO terms. But just to clarify the WTO question, I don't believe the Leavers' plan is to stay on just WTO rules long term. The idea, as I understand it, would be to spend the next decade or so attempting to negotiate hundreds of free trade agreements, from scratch, to replace the ones we already have as part of the EU (although obviously on far less favourable terms, as we would not have the clout of a gigantic trading bloc behind us). Maybe some No Deal supporter could correct me if I'm wrong?

Thanks 1s2f just seems that a no deal brexit contingency should be in a different department if it was about stocks and supplies? Btw stander I do know of leavers who did believe that 385 million / week would go back into the nhs. They also believe the eu has just been a black hole and that we have never had any returns or benefits from being in the eu. Even with all the information about they still believe that anything different is “fake news”. |

Run Free - regarding the £350 million, there are both stupid Leavers and stupid Remainers.

It looks like the short and long game have been worked out: Either: - We leave with no deal because the nasty EU wouldn't negotiate with nice Boris. - We are unable to leave because the majority of MPs in parliament overturn the democratic decision of the people, so Boris has no choice but to call a GE. He dispatches the Brexit party and has a mandate to do what he wants. |

Stander - what do believe the 52% communally voted for? Without a doubt, it was to leave the EU. Unquestionably. But did the 52% vote:- - to leave by 31st October 2019 - to leave, irrespective of the detail of any deal about how leaving would work in principle? - to leave without letting proper parliamentary scrutiny apply to the details of leaving? - to leave with a prospect of a hard border on the island of Ireland? - to leave without signficant numbers of trade deals done with major trading nations? - to leave having to negotitiate a trade deal with a Trump led America? I respect the right to vote to leave. I don't respect the right to ascribe to all 52% of those votes a common mind about what they wanted. I'm a remainer. But if Parliament agrees the detail on a negotiated leaving settlement, that's democracy for you - I'll argue the detail of the deal, but the over-riding direction is clear. |
