Battersea's 17 events have seen 17,790 finishes from 12,201 finishers - suggesting that it's had a *LOT* of one-and-done runners. I can't help thinking that a lot of those might be people who wanted to tick it off because they think the event might get cancelled (apparently, some local residents objected before the event started. Given the way that such decisions are made, if the landowners decide to review the event's permission, having over 1,000 people running in the park every Saturday might give weight to those objections) |

Andy we commented that too. Parkrun don't usually get permission in such busy and prestigious parks. I'm sure Battersea will continue to be popular, it's got all the ingredients of a cracking event. And all those peeps hitting shops and cafés on a Saturday morning will be very popular with local businesses.

Thanks @Goofee I doubt the record will stand for long, it's a very fast course.

When Wandsworth council were asked for permission to use Battersea Park, it was stated that the parkrun was likely to attract over 1000 participants each week, so the numbers shouldn't have come as a surprise. That said, both the parkrun and the junior parkrun are subject to council officers reporting back to the council's enviroment committee every 6 months. |

Thanks for the background @Cerrertonia . I for one hope it continues. A real gem on the London parkrun scene.

I visited Battersea a couple of weeks ago and was impressed with how smoothly organised it was, I could see there’s been a lot of thought gone into minimising the effect on other park users.

TBH, I suspect that a significant proportion of those that objected probably don't even use the park on a Saturday morning - they're far more likely to be the kind that just don't like the idea of other people having fun. |

I see HQ are taking away the option to record a cancellation as 'other'. Guess it will stop all the weird and wonderful reasons people put in.
