One of our parkrunners tagged us on Twitter to say we hadn't included his 300 on our milestone celebration bench - we do the 'official' milestones of 10 for juniors (although sometimes an adult jumps up so we include them), 25, 50, 100, 250, and 500, and occasionally do special shout-outs for our regulars, but we had a very full bench yesterday.

That’s quite sad tbh. Apart from the person concerned who really cares that much?

The unofficial milestone requests can be a little irksome. My Parkrun is normally 100-150 people and there is a culture of people bringing sweets if they are celebrating, so it makes it difficult to say no if someone says they are celebrating 200 runs, or 100 runs at our venue or whatever. I usually relent but say "we have an unofficial mention here for XXX".
I've seen a few examples of people having a right go at event teams on social media if they don't get their mention, but I think it's relatively rare thankfully.

Quite agree with Ally-C and another reason (although we are fortunate to not get too much in the way of that sort of thing) why I am quite happy to be stepping away from RD-ing for a while

I don’t really get why anybody wants a shout out.

Historically we always celebrated every single milestones because there was the event of handing over the t-shirt. Over the years it has become an expectation that we shout out. I only do the real milestones though. Others do any and every imaginary milestone, so it does make it tricky and I totally get the frustration

I find that quite rude. The bench was full and we all wanted to get going w the run.

We generally shout out all official and unofficial milestones, but it’s rare that there are more than 5 in total. Personally I don’t shout out the 25s but some of the other RDs do. (We average around 200-230 finishers at the moment)
