TMW - you clearly haven't done 'our' parkrun, which absolutely reflects the ethnic and economic mix of our area.

Interesting to have it confirmed that there are some financial difficulties in the mix, and I think introducing additional volunteer t-shirts is somewhat of a cash-grab but overall I, for one, am glad to be able to replace my 50 tshirt which seems to have shrunk quite a lot since I was 25lbs lighter...

That said, I did wince a bit at the part that says something like '£15 is not much for most people' or something like that.

I'm currently on 291 and doubt very much if I will ever get to 500 now so it's unlikely to be an issue for me!

I have actually forgotten how many I have run. I know its between 100 and 150, and dont think I am close to 150, so suspect its in the 120s but would need to check.

I can't see that £15 is the cost price as surely parkrun would be putting in bulk orders to the supplier? Not to mention all the races that have technical t-shirt included in entry. I dont need another t-shirt so not concerned personally but it does seem that parkrun has changed from 'free' to 'free at point of entry'

I wonder if HQs assumption that there will be a run on lower number shirts is right? There will be a 25run shirt but I wouldn't be interested. I don't wear my 50 and 100 shirts, so wouldn't be interested myself. But maybe they are thinking this is all the people between 25 and 50 runs? Is that a lot of people?

They say an estimate of 2.5m t-shirts over 10 years, and presumably that is a growth forecast, so a pessimistic one would be to be needing 250,000 per year.

For ProDirect, that's £3.75m revenue if they account for it; it was unclear to me whether ProDirect will be just a fulfillment option, with payment to parkrun (in which case the revenue would be parkrun's) or whether it was payment for a sale to ProDirect, with some side agreement with parkrun coordinating the spec / sourcing supply etc as an agent for ProDirect.

On reflection, that's likely to be revenue for parkrun to account for, so any surplus that they benefit from over and above selling at "cost" (however you determine cost!) would be visible. Personally I'd have faith that if parkrun do manage to turn t-shirts into a money spinner (and why wouldn't they) then that can only benefit the parkrun operation in other ways; perhaps it would allow for a development into use of RFID chips at venues, or improved equipment, etc. Or maybe allow them to remove reliance on some of the commercial partners?
