After talk of scanning barcodes on phones the woman in front of me today in the scanning queue had hers on her phone. She managed to bully the young lad scanning into trying to scan it and when it didn’t work she was sent to the unscannable barcode guy who wouldn’t write it down and just told her to check her position in the results. She was rather irate and complained about it being bad for the environment
The RD’s brief did specifically mention not scanning phones and said please don’t ask the volunteers to do this so I had no sympathy- felt sorry for the volunteers she berated though

I did wonder about all this talk of phones meaning more instances of people thinking phones were ok, just a a misunderstanding

I missed that MN as I was number checker, but I did see you while I was busy with my duties and couldnt say hello.
There also appeared to be an issue not long after the start with the front wheel falling off a double buggy. Both occupants and the driver appeared OK.
The back up timer I noted was using his own phone and so was at least one of the canners
