Someone at work has one of the flasks that McGoo linked to; his kids have them too. He also has a slow cooker. So, I thought if they got organised, they could have the food ready to scoop into their lunch flasks in the morning. This would only be cost-effective for a family I imagine.

Only just stumbled upon this thread (nice one RS!), so a bit late for tomorrow's lunch, it being the weekend, but today I had unusually luxurious Philadelphia and jamon serrano sandwiches (we're currently trying to work our way through about a kilo of Spanish ham that my in-laws posted us, with a BBE of 31 Dec!).

I had a winter salad with mustard mayo and seeds in it with some ham. And some grapes and a plum.
Had cake at a meeting earlier though

You could cook it all at once in the slow cooker RS and take out a hot portion into a flask. Then you'd get portions for the freezer that could be reheated while your porridge cooks on other mornings.

Thanks for the suggestion but, I couldn't do any of that Cyclops for so many reasons:
I don't own a slow cooker, really because I don't eat meat I eat breakfast at work after my cycle, so am never preparing porridge at home* I don't like freezing prepared food I don't have a microwave for quick reheating (I don't like them anyway).
*However, I do like porridge in the morning so might get my act together to get up early and make some to take with me in a flask and I love congee so perhaps I could make that in a slow cooker. Hmmmm ..... Food for thought.

Nice thread. I have just menu planned for the next 2 weeks including lunches. How flippin organised is that (I'm unlikely to stick to it religiously).
Lunches include:
salad, tuna rice salad, deli pasta salad (tom, garlic and salami) and left overs of various sorts including soup, stovies, roast veg & couscous, smoky chicken hotpot and curry.
I do use a microwave when I can but as I am going to be out and about a lot over coming months I am coveting one of those flasks.

I'm coveting a flask as well, but as I have a microwave in the office and a cheap canteen available, how can I justify it.

We occasionally do a couscous pot that you just add hot water to when ready to eat.
Put dry packet of couscous (we use ainsley harriot packets such as roast veg or sundries tomato and garlic) into a container with lid, such as cliplok?, add extras, we add olives, sundries tomatoes and sliced chorizo sausage.
When ready to eat, pour boiling water just to above couscous line. Give it a stir and leave for about 5 mins. Healthy lunch. Bit like a pot noodle but better.

That flask looks good! Back to packed lunches on Monday. Meanwhile I'm making the most of being able to have hot lunch. Black pudding today with a cursory side salad.
