I never saw the appeal, but my mum and dad seemed to think no weekend was complete without it. Or tinned peaches with carnation milk. Bogging.

The only good thing about Wimpy’s were the tomato shaped ketchup dispensers. The burgers were hard, dry wafer thin discs, and the buns were limp and equally insubstantial. Two bites and they were gone. They couldn’t compete with two all-beef patties, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions and special sauce, all in a sesame seed bun.
