No childhood phone or car for me. My parents used to point out that we would not all have fitted in a car, although it seems to me that most of us could squeeze into the phonebox when we called grandma at Christmas.

I remember my best mate's phone number being 1957 when I was young. His mum's phone number is still the same only it now has 7 more digits in front!

We had no phone at home until I was maybe 18-19. Before that it was a hike to the phonebox to feed in 2p pieces and talk to friends. "Urgent messages" for my parents (usually the death of a relative) came via a network of friends & neighbours.
Kids today, tsk, don't know they're born, tsk, Eeee lad, we were that poor, etc...

Can anyone identify what car this is? I found a few photos of it in my mum’s box of photos and it probably belonged to my grandparents.

I thought at first it was a Hillman Minx. I was wrong. It's a Ford Prefect, a 100E, I think. Late 50s or early 60s.
