Closest I came to Motorhead were Hawkwind (with Baker on drums).

57.5 Degrees of Pain
Saxon were famous for a while as the loudest metal band. These things mattered in the 80s!
Were Glasgow as bad as I remember Dvorak?
Frankie Miller was the other act at that first gig. Must have been to make money for fading Scottish acts of the 70s, but was a good day out in blazing sunshine. I remember Pallas being compared to Marillion for about 5 minutes.
Next gig was up and coming Glasgow bands. So I got to dislike Wet Wet Wet before almost anyone else. Woza were good and became Deacon Blue.
Then it was metal all the way at the legendary and scary Glasgow Apollo. Iron Maiden and Dio were two I remember. I wasn't a big metal fan but my gig going mate was.
The bands I saw got a bit cooler in 1985 and beyond!

That Saxon claim was well founded - it was a full on assault of noise I recall

Anyone read the piece in Woman's Weekly last week about Sarah Barrett?
