I have found breathwork activity on my garmin, so I have done 6min relax and focus at the start of my lunch today. I am going to attempt to do it every morning & evening - evening especially as I could have drifted off. The watch buzzed at each in breath, hold, out breath and hold. There is various other workouts (or should that be work-in's) too.
Yes, let it answer, then let it go... Eventually, it runs out of things to do and you have "stilled the mind". Some disciplines want you to think of nothing, I find that totally impossible, especially for beginners. In Zen meditation, you get a Koan, a riddle. You meditate on that and eventually, you find the answer... Which is different for everyone. This really helps with focus, which you need first, before you can empty yourself completely of all thoughts. Another helpful tool for concentration is Tratak: candle gazing. You light a candle abd stare at it while focussing on your breathing. That is a helpful way of stilling the mind too and what I start with when teaching meditation: breathing, candle gazing, combine the two, solve a Koan, still the mind...
I’m going to try and follow the 8 week program in the Mark Williams book. Mr Pix is returning to work next week on the early shift so it makes sense for me to get up earlier and use the time.
I’m on week 4 of this (again). The best program for me.
