It's a show and that's the point of them having an entrance.

He went to the medical tent after the semi final so they will have known he had COVID. At the end of the day, if the organisers don't stop people with COVID competing, they're going to compete.

Surprised this is a story here TBH given Peaty competed with COVID earlier in the games.

I am pretty surprised and disappointed in anyone competing when they have covid. I’ve only had covid once and it stopped me half way through an easy six mil run and I was out for 10days. My hr was out of kilter for another couple of weeks.

Peaty tested positive after competing and hasn’t raced since as far as I am aware.

Peaty didn't race because of performance. He felt strong he would have raced the mixed medley. He did the men’s medley relay after the positive test.

You are all so naive.

They have worked for 4 years for this. The rules allow you to compete you compete.

He'd still have had COVID. The Olympics isn't the first time athletes have competed with COVID. It's been happening in Grand Tours. Geraint Thomas completed the Tour de France with COVID IIRC.

If the Olympics had COVID protocols, Lyles probably wouldn't even have caught it but it's been treated as a normal illness now and athletes aren't going to give up 4 years of work that they have to wait 4 more years to rectify if there's no protocol and they still feel they can perform reasonably.

Delete word covid insert cold. It's not 2020 anymore. We're better than this. What about non-covid illnesses? Exactly. Grips my shit people misery seeking.

God I'm getting flashbacks of lockdown lovers! Peering over fences because someone did a 61 min run #guidancenotlaw

About This Thread

Maintained by Curly45
Couldn't find a thread so thought I would start one.

Who else is off to watch or who is watching at home?

We're doing Lille and Paris and a mix of sports. Currently trying to find travel insurance that includes ticket cancellation as some of the trains in the UK might be difficult and we have some internal French trains to do as well.

Also need to work out the new Paris metro ticket/app combo (Navigo I think).
