He went to the medical tent after the semi final so they will have known he had COVID. At the end of the day, if the organisers don't stop people with COVID competing, they're going to compete. Surprised this is a story here TBH given Peaty competed with COVID earlier in the games. |

I am pretty surprised and disappointed in anyone competing when they have covid. I’ve only had covid once and it stopped me half way through an easy six mil run and I was out for 10days. My hr was out of kilter for another couple of weeks.

Peaty tested positive after competing and hasn’t raced since as far as I am aware.

Peaty didn't race because of performance. He felt strong he would have raced the mixed medley. He did the men’s medley relay after the positive test. You are all so naive. They have worked for 4 years for this. The rules allow you to compete you compete. |

He'd still have had COVID. The Olympics isn't the first time athletes have competed with COVID. It's been happening in Grand Tours. Geraint Thomas completed the Tour de France with COVID IIRC. If the Olympics had COVID protocols, Lyles probably wouldn't even have caught it but it's been treated as a normal illness now and athletes aren't going to give up 4 years of work that they have to wait 4 more years to rectify if there's no protocol and they still feel they can perform reasonably. |
