Similarly one of the heptathletes - American Chari Hawkins - failed to record a height at the high jump. Looking at her history I don't think she was a medal chance but still a disaster for her.

It was a question on YouGov this week, with various sports / events. I didn't read any of the specific events because I just voted no for every single one. I'm intrigued to see if YouGov release the answers for this one. It reminded me of the "what animal would you beat in a fight" survey. No, obviously not at this age and given the general strength of the UK team. Scratch that, not at any age, I did train hard for a while when a student (alongside some internationals) and found my limits. But there are a load of sports where I'd be much more competitive than Eric was. On a more rationale level than simply a YouGov survey, it's certainly a layered question. I wouldn't qualify, never would have, had I even been disciplined and focussed at any sport, if nothing else because I wouldn't qualify for a GB team. But yes, I'd give some of the competitors a run for my money in some events, even without much training. But that also points to the beauty of the Olympics that it's inclusive to all nations rather than a closed shop to those with the full structure and backing. |

But there are a load of sports where I'd be much more competitive than Eric was. Where I 100% can guarantee I wouldn't be. I was so immediately, evidently poor at any sport that when at my (very small) primary school, they would have needed me to make numbers for an inter-school boys football competition, they instead investigated if the rules stopped them including a girl in the team! 😂 My sporting potential is an always was somewhere between completely shit and extremely shit! |

I’ll sit in the corner with you MM, as someone who has always been shit at sport and was always the last picked.

If you take average times, quite a few on here would be closer than winning time x 2 (Eric the eel was slower than that) to the winner of any running event in the Olympics.

At the dancing gymnastics today. Looks great competition. Getting in was an absolute ball ache though. Worst experience so far. Lots of pushing. Weird atmosphere. Had to wait ages penned in for the last session to leave even though we arrived after the let in time. |
