Shame the queen felt it so difficult to try to look interested. Even when it came to opening the games it was simply reading from a card. Disappointing.

But as Eddie Izzard observed she has that "old lady, cake on her head, live forever" thing going on, difficult to look impressed when you've seen it all before.

Yep, McCartney was garbage, took a touch of shine of it for me. Same at the Jubilee - time to hit the long & winding

hmmm, a bit surprised at the number of people who are now "proud to be british", so you weren't before. I must assume they didn't realise we have the best health service bar none, that millions of people gave up life and limb in 2 world wars, that this country's wealth is built on the work of millions of people going back 2 centuries, that we have a fantastic literary canon and have always had a marvellous tradition in pop music.
We also have quite a full sporting history.
How very odd.

McCartney was the only poor part of it. Suspect not Mr Boyle's idea? The rest of it was superb LOVED The Queen and Bond. Legendary!

McCartney seemed a bit at odds with the rest of the ceremony, none of which was about a single performer, I was waiting for some sort of finale after him, maybe another loud firework, they should have stopped at the cauldron as nothing could have topped that.

I agree Meglet. That would have been a good finishing point. I went to bed when Macca came on.

What better way to distinguish your event than Macca ending it by singing Hey Jude and/or Let It Be.
