this is simply not consistent with the theme of youth and looking to the future

Not read any of this thread, but just utterly blown away by the opening ceremony - apart from McCartney being wheeled out (seriously, we'd have been better off with the performing dog from Britain's Got Talent trying to sing that outdated dirge), Shami Chakrabarti (sp?) and did Muhammed Ali even know where he was?

Thought the gesture of the 'old' generation of Olympians handing the torch on the the future generation of potential Olympians was great - what a moment for those young athletes - and personally thought the 'cauldron' was a well-realised, modern take.

Now to get my atlas out and work out where half of these countries are... Djibouti, anyone?

To be fair you shouldn't have a go at a legend who has sadly lost his faculties . . . . Nor Muhammad Ali

To be fair, I was more concerned about Ali - his nurse seemed to be a little brutal...

I missed the first 15 minutes, but my favourite part was the inflatable Voldemort. I'm also now disappointed to discover my bed is not also a trampoline, and that the Heel Springs the punks were bouncing around on are not in my flat waiting to be played with.

Did I miss the animals?
