I thought the whole thing was brilliant. Left the house and ran up the hill to watch the fireworks, and wasn't disappointed for my trouble. Just finished watching on pause. Loved the industrial revolution stuff at the beginning, and the Queen parachuting in with James Bond!

Most of it was very good - didn't quite get Macca at the end though, even though he is a fellow Scouser (or maybe I should say was). Would have been better getting David Cameron up to do a bit of karaoke.

Ultra Kanga Kazzaaaaah!!
Apart from Macca who's so beyond his sell by date it's embarrassing, thought the whole thing was absolutely awesome. The cauldron is beautiful and to have young athletes lighting it was a classy touch. I was excited before, am positively hyper now!

Thoroughly enjoyed, even tho it was a bit long and was struggling to stay awake near the end. Just had to stay up to see it, but as soon as Maca was on it was up-stairs to Bedfordshire.
Off to Olympics footie today, got to be part of it!

I think we're being a bit harsh about Macca - how else could you end but with a Beatle? For those of us who remember life before the Beatles it is hard to convey how they were responsible for so much change in the country, how every album was a new direction and everyone was waiting to see what they would do next. they even had national television giving the first playing of them. Think Harry Potter books but with music. I don't care that his voice was not up to much, it was still a lot better than the only other viable alternative, Ringo. There will be millions of people around the world who knew who he was and who will be delighted to have seen him play live. Are we going to criticise Ali for not giving us a shuffle?
As for the song choice, yes it's not as good as a lot of their other material, but finishing with a good old fashioned sing-along was the right idea, and the words are easy for non-english speakers to join in with.
A great event, i was really proud to be British.

McCartney the agent of all social chnage since the 60s, I don't think so. I think it was the guy who invented the pill.
Ali was an Olympic athlete, redgrave was an Olympic Athlete, Beckham did a substantial amount of work for the bid.
McCartney?
He was shite. Legend maybe, but it was not needed. The rest was absolutely brilliant, especially the rins.

Totally agree, was a great show...didn't really like seeing Ali like that, but he is a legend...the Queen was a great sport for her little bit loved the forged rings and the final handing over of the torch and lighting...Sir Paul should have stayed home!
