Strong quads help protect knees. I had a runners knee type injury in 2008 but an intensive program of squats meant I’ve not had real issues again with what had historically been a real weakness for me

Interesting, though, Sharkie, and with a message for EVERYONE.

There's no fool like an old fool, DT :P And yes, weight loss is never just fat, which is OK when you're young and can rebuild lean tissue and have weight to lose, but it's a risky game for an athlete who isn't going to see 50 again.

(I still catch myself wondering if losing half a stone in weight and getting down to the weight I was in late 2010 would result in better race times, but it would probably just result in me being a hideous grump and suffocating to death from rebreathing ketones inside my mask.)

Tried out my warm-ups this week. It was a partial success. Needs more work and practice. The new passing drill wasn’t as good as I’d hoped, think my rectangle was to big and I need to work out how to get some movement into it. Or just stick to the ones from the manual.

Sorry about your injury DT. Frustrating.

Amazing walk today with colleague and her husband. I guess it would be fair to say she is also a friend now. It was a challenging day but so rewarding.

Partial success is good Dio. Coaching is a learning process as much as a teaching process, doncha think?

Proud of myself for sprinting a 300 this morning.
'How long since you've done that' Raffo asked.

Ages. Rest of seaside set was 2 x 180, 3 x 120, 4 x 60 all with walkbacks (ie decreasing recovs) Am pleased with pacing and quality of all ten reps.

Tried to practice bounding afterwards. Failed!

I’m as weak as a kitten. The last two years have kicked the shit out of me. Aerobically I’m fit, but I look and feel like an old bloke. I need to get stronger

Have you worked out how you're going to get stronger, DT?

No but it’s more likely to involve chopping firewood than going to a gym

As promised - a carry on doing stuff thread.

Not a typo above. Half term is too early in the month and end of month Halloween is over promoted anyway. Half time can mean whatever you want it too and BE whenever you want it to be.
