Yesterday I only needed a sleeveless top when I went out for my run, for the first time this year. Today...I'm not sure I did anything Newt. I did a thing on a horse this evening where I tried to bend it a bit sideways. I don't think I've done that before.

FleeCircus chose me to choose the newt from yesterday...
I pick...
"Not actually a Newt for me, but my youngest daughter is going for a run with Mrs D."
A lovely newt, Dio. Hopefully it'll lead to lots of family running.

Thank you, Ness. Does that mean I pick today's?

My newt for today is that the tulips in the garden have come into flower this morning.

Yes, Dio, but people seem to wait for the next day to decide, in case of late breaking newts My tulips have been out for a week and are nearly over, your local climate must be colder than ours BBL...They are also my favourite flower, though that's like declaring a favourite child really isn't it? My white tulips have just come out, they have a purple edge like someone has taken a felt tip to the edges No newts yet, though the first coat of paint is going on in the kitchen. I appear to have accidentally chosen the exact same shade that was already on the walls!

Dissenting voice!
I'm not that keen on tulips. They can look a bit military en masse, although I admit the colours and shapes can be glorious.
Fleecy is right though - it's hard to name a favourite flower and seems disloyal to the others.
I like white flowers above all things, I like scented flowers. Especially white scented flowers at dusk... heaven.
But then there are wild red poppies in cornfields and turning waste ground into something else, there are windflowers carpeting the woods just about now, dog roses in June hedgerows, a bunch of red and purple anemones with secret dark hearts, winter pansies that brave the elements, the first snowdrops... lily of the valley, jasmine in the Med in spring, the mimosa we saw on Saturday....
oops. Shut up me!

Nothing very military about ours. There are only a few and it would appear that there are fewer each spring anyway, due to being regularly trampled on by over-excited paws. But before they get trampled into the ground they look quite pretty - the petals are yellow, tinged with red.
