Today I discovered that Waitrose have olive tofu and almond and sesame tofu. The olive was lovely. Haven't tried the other one yet.

What do you do with the tofu Linds? I never know how to use it.

Nearly always tastes rather rubbery and bland to me I'm sorry to say. Smoked tofu reminded me of those sausages in tins. Hot dog sausages? Not something I ever eat now but the similarity did strike me.
Perhaps I've never eaten it prepared correctly.

I think V'rap is the expert, but it's nice marinaded, and this recipe had it fried up with spring onions, garlic, black beans, smoked paprika and served in a tortilla wrap with a sort-of guacamole and a sort-of salsa. I added cheese, too, as I'm veggie not vegan. It was lovely.

Home made marinated tofu is delicious. Fellmouse eats loads of tofu. She doesn't bother pressing or marinating it, she just cuts it into chunks and lobs it into her stir-fries. And although I think the texture of silken tofu is horrible - a bit like quiche - it makes a good baked cheesecake.
Smoked tofu reminds me of tinned frankfurters too.

That does sound very tasty, Linds - but it's the other ingredients that sound like they're doing the work!
And I feel a bit guilty mentioning my foodie newt, which involved eating oneof the the new dinners I made the other day. The never used by me ingredient was tamarind paste. I expected to like it so I used quite a lot ... but I'll use even more next time.

Watching telly shouldn't really count but I watch so little that it sometimes does. Raffo noticed that a programme about Giselle (the ballet) was on BBC 4 at 8pm, presented by Tamara Rojo - a bit of a heroine of mine - so we watched that together. It was really interesting.

Two newts yesterday. The aforementioned new microwave was purchased. Also I ran further than I have done for a very long time - certainly all this year and probably since last summer.
