Ok the rules are simple and there to be interpreted as you see fit.

This is the Anti Lent thread.

Specifico - we're not about giving things up, not about abstinence, no hair shirts, no bed of nails (unless that's what might float your boat and you fancy giving it a try).

Do a new thing for spring.

Try and do a new thing for Spring every day 'til Easter.

You can hear, see, think or feel a new thing. You can continue the new thing over the forty (or whatever) days.

We are the Newt Jinglers.

say it loud
say it proud.

I went to work without having had a cup of coffee because eL Bee!, who normally brings me a cup of coffee before I get up, had left in the middle of the night to drive to Manchester for a course. Does that count?

No, thought not.

For the first time in forever (this is related to one of the things in my blog) I switched off my alarm and didn't immediately start flicking at the internet, I put my 'phone back down and got straight out of bed.

Closer?

And I'm going to have an entire day of not eating any animal products today. I'm going to eat different things instead. I can just about make that newt jingle.

I'm thinking about proper new things, though :)

I'm thinking of being more bossy and authoritative this year. Rad!

Nice use of a quote from Frozen there V-rap. ;-)
I like the not reaching for your phone thing, it seems positive and day welcoming rather than flagellatory.

And definitely different with the food idea. Do tell us what you've eaten at the end of the day.

Sounds a great idea, going to try to run somewhere different and a route I have not ran before once a week.

OK I'm in. I'm starting reading a new book tonight I know that's not exactly newty & jingly because its for the Read a book for each year of your life thread so it's somewhat coincidence that I am starting today but I am in work meltdown today so it will have to do.

I'll try to jingle a bit more tomorrow

A few reminders:

It's really easy, the Newts don't need to be big or difficult (but bonus points for being clever). Something as simple as sitting in a different place at the table to eat... whaddyer mean you never sit at a table to eat! Shame on you. Try it!

It can be noticing a flower or bird for the first time this year, speaking to someone new, walking backwards down your street, smiling at someone you don't know... but hey you don;t need to comeover all Pollyanna.

You could punch someone in the face if they really deserve it.

I don't advise this - but I AM going to be braver about challenging racist behaviour.

Morning - wearing a new pair of earrings this morning - I bought them in NYC, they are silver and inspired by the Brooklyn Bridge. This may make them sound rather weird but they really aren't!

My eating habits on work days don't bear scrutiny :-O Though I have brought something for lunch that isn't hermetically sealed oblongs.
