I think most race organisers will continue to ignore it.

I like the concept of no headphones.
But
It has to be all are banned or none.
Also
If it is not a lapped course I have no issue.
I believe I have mellowed

They're pretty much banned for all off road races down here too.

Somebody I know was disqualified for wearing headphones after finishing first in a race (despite having plenty of notice and warnings). Of course, it was a massive injustice perpetrated by the organisers, rather than a case of him ignoring the rules.

Wow - a breathtaking cash-in by UKA! That borders on corruption.
I look forward to the next commercial tie-in, when I'll be allowed to use EPO, as long as it's AstraZeneca-branded.

Careful, its not UKA doing this, its England Athletics. Different bodies, and from what I can see England Athletics is not represented on the UKA Board.

A few years ago I was at a presentation by people from Run Britain and I asked them if their lukewarm stance on headphones was influenced by the fact that every time you went to the site you had a popup talking about winning a pair of Sennheiser headphones. To me this link between running and listening to something while you do it is as odd and inexplicable as people who think that running only exists as an offshoot of charity.

larkim - many thanks. I withdraw my venom from UKA, with profuse apologies, and re-direct it at EA.
