There's just over 700 of 1600 squares been looked in, around 44% rather than a third.

Also the profile of where seekers have been doesn't match Fetch's graphic, because they try to do more of their runs away from the centre when seeking.

"I am not convinced people are playing this to win." I take it from that you you are - which is fair enough - but why should everybody else take the same approach? I strongly suspect that some people are trying to engage with the game by hiding somewhere they hope will last a little while but also give them a fair chance of contributing to the seeking - which also seems reasonable. Each to their own and all that.

ION - it seems that, while typing this, my hiding place in an edge square has been visited. Best start planning a seeker's route for later then :)

The hiding and seeking is the main game, but i eke mine out to an all month interest by trying to run in as much of next months hide grid, purely as a side game with myself.

I've been found in the last quarter of hiders both months so far... at the bus stop outside my mum's. And haven't done much seeking, i think i maybe found one person last month.

I'm hiding still. I cant run until Tues so would quite like to stay hidden until then, then still go seeking. Can't see that happning over the weekend though. I think my days are numbered!!

Hide and seek for me is a case of picking random spot to hide - as essentially it’s luck of the draw on where any seekers choose to run as to when you get found - and then when I’m found seeing where I can go to go over any remaining squares. This (as well as WSW) has led to me exploring more paths/routes than I’ve been down before and has been a big part of the real-life fun created by playing an online game with people all around the world.

"There's just over 700 of 1600 squares been looked in"

How did you get that number? I was looking for it but couldn't find it.

CumbriAndy

People play a game for fun. If I play to win I pick what I hope is a good square and wait and that is pretty non-interactive. I see that it is much more fun to become a seeker and then plan a route to visit as many unvisited squares as possible to flush out hiders. You can only get found once and yet you can find many.

Maybe the gameplay needs to be revisited.

philip, that graph also assumes everyone has their starting point in the centre square. Some people will have their grid offset depending on what is accessible to them.

theOtherRichard followed GimmeMedals's ion trail

I've been found but not until day 3 so that's my most successful hide yet (somewhere not central)! I'll be going out to seek later on.

About This Thread

Maintained by fetcheveryone
Here's the barebones of the new game:

fetcheveryone.com/hideandseek.php

How it works
The game generates a big three mile square with you at the centre. The square is cut into a grid of 1600 smaller squares.

During any given, unlock as many squares from your grid as possible (C19 permitting) by visiting them during your training. These are the places where you can 'hide'. Before the month is up, you must choose one of these squares as your hiding place.

When the first game kicks off (1st of the month), a lone seeker must start finding people, by visiting the squares. When someone is found, they become a seeker too. The seekers can then collaborate to flush out the hiders, and a growing army of seekers hunt down the final hiders.

The last person to be found will become the seeker for the following month.

IMPORTANT
I am still building the game. Keep following this thread for updates as I make them.
